Anyway, rankings...

I'm going to bed.
A lazy soccer blog that mostly deals with trying to use some actual data and do some real analysis instead of gut feeling type stuff. Of course in the end it's all arbitrary any ways, so it's really pointless. I just like playing with data in excel really.
Do you think the Castrol index is an accurate reflection of on field performance?
ReplyDeleteDo you know of a source for season totals of defensive stats such as tackles, interceptions, forced errors, etc?
And/or offensive season stats such as passes attempted, pass completion percent, key passes, etc?
I am particularly interested in a system of rating player performance that isn't as arbitrary as journalist ratings after a match and curious how you arrive at your ratings.
The Castrol index seems to do this if dividing points and minutes, but doesn't provide the numbers used. MLS chalkboard is not user friendly, and provides no season totals.
Thank you for a great blog, I enjoy the data regularly. Congrats on the new baby, mine just graduated from KU but I remember every minute when he was young.
