Happy America's birthday day!

You know, I'm still trying to decide if I want to take the rest of the week off or not. It'd be nice to spend two vacation days to have five days off in a row, but there's something really nice of being alone in the office as well... I guess I'll figure it out Thursday morning...

But let's get some stuff out of the way. Two news articles caught my eye this morning. First and firstmost, the CAL FC dream moves to Atlanta as Eric Wynalda takes the helm for the Atlanta Silverbacks in the NASL. And, honestly, good for him. I still think he's a blowhard idiot, but the Open Cup run was a bast to watch and he probably has something to offer the sport still.

Secondly, finally an update on Convey. Getting him back for the Houston game will be ig, but fitness will definitely be a concern, especially with the heat the way it is. I also posted a bit ago on how much better Peterson was playing than I had recognized, but Convey is still far and away my first choice. I know a lot of fans aren't pleased with him this year but I think perhaps be's being compared to much to Bravo. I think he's had a good presence and adds some leadership and experience that we need on the field with such a young team and having someone like Jacob on the bench is that much better for us.

Now then, on to the important stuff. Weekly predictions. No real surprises in the numbers I don't think, though last week was a little rough on the pick-o-bot. Season long total goes to 75 correct out of 155, for a correct pick % of 48.4%. MLS teams have won 81 out of 155 games at home for a home winning % of 52.3%, so it's still better to just pick the home team to win than to trust me. But let's do it anyway.

16 matches this week means those of us with MLS direct kick get their money's worth. And let's not forget the US Open Cup semifinals are just around the corner as well... Really I think that's what I'm looking forward to the most.
