June why were you so hot

So a pretty poor month is finally behind us and I ran up the numbers to calculate who was the best player in June. Kind of weird really. While we lost games and gave up goals our defence was pretty solid. What was lacking was consistent quality play in the midfield and in the attack and our finishing has just been awful.

I did decide to do something "new" and add in ratings for Open Cup matches, since that's where we've been shining, and that was enough to push CJ Sapong onto the top of the pile. Only 1 goal in league play in June, but 2 goals against Dayton in the cup quater final and an assist against Colorado in the previous USOC match is a major reason for Sporting's sucess in the comepetition this year and warrents some recognition.

Interesting, Jacob Peterson has put in a really good month. In 307 minutes he notched the tying goal against Seattle to earn a tough road point and had an assist against Tortonto as well as an assist against Dayton. It'll be good if he can develope into a formidible figure for us as we're a bit thin depth wise and it's only going to get worse.

Will be nice to finally get Convey and Nagamura back for July...

Anyway, here's the June player ratings.
